Let's Fly Kites! A Fun Way to Enjoy Yourself After School

Flying kites is a favorite pastime, not only for children but also for adults all around the world. According to the National Today website, January 14 is celebrated as International Kite Day. This celebration is believed to have originated in India and is popular in the city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, as a way to mark the transition from winter to summer and the upcoming harvest of winter crops. Kites symbolize the spirits of the gods awakening from their winter slumber.

Parents certainly understand that flying kites is a great way to enhance their child's development by allowing them to play outside with friends.

After school is usually a time when children gather to fly kites together. Sometimes, they make plans with their friends in advance to go home together and fly kites.

Often, children are so engrossed in kite-flying that they pay little attention to their parents' worries, happily playing with their friends until they're interrupted by less pleasant situations.

Here are some things parents should instill in their children to ensure they continue enjoying kite flying safely after school:

1. Make sure kids rest and have lunch before playing
Eating and resting adequately will prevent them from getting too tired while playing and still have enough energy to do their homework later in the evening.

2. Wear comfortable outfits for playing
The heat and dust can make children sweat quickly, so wear a hat to protect from direct dust and sunlight.

3. Fly kites in an open field for more space and safety
Remind children not to chase after kites that get loose, especially if they end up near roads, as they might not notice the danger of passing vehicles while chasing kites.

4. Set a time limit for playing
Teach children that playing time is limited to until 5 p.m. so that they are home by dusk to do their homework. If children don't understand this, they might feel annoyed if they're asked to come home while they're still enjoying themselves.

5. Take a bath immediately after kite flying
Sweat and dust need to be washed off with antibacterial soap. Use Zen Antibacterial Soap with Tea Tree variant. The Red Shiso leaves and Tea Tree in it give children a refreshing and calming feeling, as if they are bathing in nature. Zen Soap is also proven to be tough against 99% of germs while being gentle on the skin.
